Jenny and I just returned from a quick trip with the kids to Kentucky to wrap up a few details on this year’s championships. We hit some great weather, with the temperature around 60 degrees, the flowers were out and the bass boats were on the water. We’ll be putting together an updated mailing for all qualifiers around the end of March.
I didn’t have a chance to get on the water on this trip, but they say when we’re there in May the bite should be great. I talked with a couple of local guides, and they say that we couldn’t have picked a better time to be there. Everything that I’ve heard puts the fish in late pre spawn, with the big fish moving up into the brush. The average temperature that time of year should be around the mid 70’s. We may still have snow up here.
We have a record field of anglers coming to each Championship. Be sure to check your name on the website list to make sure that you are registered with us if you qualified. Don’t miss your chance to win two Skeeter boats and over $20,000 in cash! We’ll break all kinds of NBAA records, with the largest payout ever, the largest field of anglers and I’m guessing the largest weigh in ever.
Remember, there is no entry fee to fish the championships. I have been asked by several anglers to offer an optional voluntary side pot, which we will do. There will, of course, also be a big bass pot available.
Thanks to everyone who packed D&R Sports for Chuck Schrader’s talk, and a special thanks to Chuck for taking the time to do it. Be sure to checkout all the other seminars that we’re offering in the next couple of weeks. We’ve lined up Gerry Gostenik, Kim Stricker, Mark Snyder and our own Don Watts to talk about spring techniques and Kentucky and Barkely hot spots. Also. Be sure to sign up by April 1 for your early membership of just $30.00.
Look for more updates on Kentucky and let us know about any questions that you have.
Thanks,
Jim and Jenny |
