St Clair Sunday Series Kicks off With a Bang!!!

The first tournament for the St Clair Sunday Series literally kicked off with a bang. Despite high winds, rain and lightning early in the morning, many of the anglers decided to brave the elements and were rewarded with a great day of fishing. The first place team of Todd Koehler & David Carter weighing in 18.96 lbs edged out the 2nd place team of Tom Bates Jr & Tom Bates Sr by 12 one hundredths of a pound. Rounding out the top 3 teams was the team of Kent Miller & Darren Lear weighing in 16.72 lbs. The big bass of the tournament tipped the scales at 5.97 lbs, a giant of a smallmouth caught by Tom Bates Sr on a Melon Pepper Cruncher Tube.

This was a special kickoff event and tons of extra prizes were given out at the weigh in. Doug Phillips from Bass Pro Shops was one of the many anglers and provided a t-shirt to each angler. Doug and Bass Pro have stepped up to provide other great prizes to be given away at upcoming events. Each team also received a tackle pack from K&E Tackle, sample packs from Rejuvenade, Anglersmart, and other great prizes. Special sponsored prizes that were also given away included Yamalube oil, Extreme Marine products, and two one year memberships to the Combat Fishing Service provided by Wayne Carpenter. Superior GMC Cadillac is also a major sponsor of the St Clair Sunday series and is giving away a gold putter for the big bass of the year. It looks like Tom Bates Sr has got a great start on this special award, but you never know. Superior GMC is also providing a special T-shirt to each big bass winner at every event. This was our final Kick Off event in the northern region, with MIS race tickets provided by Auto Value Parts Stores.
