 NBAA Announces Blackjack Shootout Date and Location!
NBAA is pleased to announce a partnership with the City of Charlevoix to host the inaugural Blackjack Shootout on September 24, 2005. Lake Charlevoix and connecting waters will be the site of one of the largest tournament events in the state, with a guaranteed first place prize of at least $5000.00.
Any NBAA member can qualify by simply fishing 10 Overtime Challenge events and 4 Weekend Challenge events – that’s just 14 tournaments! Teams fishing a total of 21 total NBAA tournaments, during the regular season automatically qualify to fish the event for free, as long as at least 4 of the events are Weekend Challenge events! Entry fee for those not qualifing to fish for free will be $60.00. Any team made up of one team member that fished 14 events and the other team member that fished 21 events the entry fee will be $30.00 for the team member who only fished 14 events.
We have more sponsors coming on board to make this event even more spectacular.
“The Blackjack Shootout is already recognized as the premier event in tournament angling for 2005” said Jim Sprague, executive director. “This event will most likely be the largest team tournament held in a number of years with one of the highest payouts ever.”
These are the events our sponsors are looking for and our anglers should look for great support. Anglers will be able to qualify through nearly 800 tournament events held throughout the Midwest. Just 14 tournaments will get you in and 21 tournaments let you fish for free!
Launch Fees
The launch fees for this event and the practice days leading up to the Black Jack Shootout have been waived. If you are pre-fishing a week or two before the event you do not have to pay to launch your boat. The launch fees at the city ramp have been waived for this special event. If questioned by anyone let them know that you are there practicing for the NBAA Black Jack Shootout and that you were told that the launch fee’s have been waived.
Registration & Directions
Registration will be on Friday September 23 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday September 24 starting at 5:00 am.

The AmericInn Lodge & Suites will be the host hotel for the NBAA staff for the 2005 Black Jack Shootout. AmericInn is offering special rates for NBAA members, be sure to mention your from NBAA but remember rooms are limited. If you are interested in staying at the AmericInn Lodge please give them a call at 231-237-0988.
Since the rooms are limited at the AmericInn there are a couple of other places you may want to call. The Lodge Hotel also offers excellent rates and you can call them at 231-547-6565. Last but not least The Capri Motel has great rates and you can reach them at 231-547-2545.
