NBAA Division 40 Championship!

The anglers of Division 40 were recently treated to an awesome divisional championship. The day started off with all of the qualifying anglers meeting at KD Outdoors at 5:00 am for a meeting and instructions. This was not your ordinary divisional championship. Director of division 40, Paul Cowen, had a trick up his sleeve. When anglers arrived at KD they learned that they would be fishing 3 different lakes. The lakes included Union Lake, Long Lake and Loon Lake. There would be a blind draw to determine which anglers would fish which lake. Paul also implemented a 3 fish limit for the championship. There was a lake captain at each lake to make sure everyone was at the right lakes and to send them out to fish at 7 am. Anglers were to be back at KD at 2:30 pm for the weigh in.

The anglers brought in 51 fish, all alive to the scales. The team of Chris Schultes and Derrek Zdeb took top honors with 3 largemouth topping the scales at 10.45 lbs. This great team also captured big bass honors with a 5.14 lb largemouth. In second place and reigning NBAA angler of the year Andrew Solomon fishing alone weighed in 8.80 lbs. And rounding out the top 3 was the team of Todd Glover and Mike Ray with 8.10 lbs. Division 40 also paid out $100 for 1st place at each lake along with a plaques. The top 5 places and big bass received cash while there were some great prizes for the teams finishing 6-10. During the festivities there was BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, salad, potato salad, baked beans, cakes and cookies for all of the anglers. The directors of division 40 would like to thank all of the anglers for making 2011 another GREAT year. Without the support of the anglers and sponsors, events like this would not be possible.
