NBAA #1 – Pleasant Hill Results!

WOW!....That’s about all Ky Reed and the directors of the NBAA Ohio Central Division Challenge (OCDC) keep saying to themselves.   43 teams came out to fish the NBAA/OCDC recently setting a new record for their circuit. NEVER has the OCDC had so much energetic participation by their members.

The day started out very dreary with cloudy skies and a light rain. Everyone registering was treated to bottled water and FRESH DONUTS supplied by Yum-ee Donuts.  Plus, each team received a “Welcome Pack” that contained sales items, discount coupons, and some really COOL stuff provided by our sponsors. Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) was on hand to offer each boater a “Courtesy Inspection” of their bassin’ rig.  Everyone was cooperative and really appreciated the professionalism of the Watercraft Officer!

By 9am, the clouds broke and the sun came shining through which turned the bass on. The fishing for most was really hot, and the directors were told that the McNanie’s had a 5 fish limit IN THE FIRST 18 MINUTES of the tournament! Take a look at the stats below, there were 34 LIMITS brought in to the scales.  That is awesome fishing to say the least.

All of our teams returned to the weigh in area at 3pm and were treated to GRILLED HOT DOGS and cold drinks by this year’s “Grillmaster” Donnie Spillman! (Thanks Donnie for giving up part of your angling time, and coming in early!) During weigh in, a lot of mixed bags of large & smallmouth bass came in which is the norm for Pleasant Hill.  However, the “lunker” bass evaded the scales this year. The 2 largest bass (yes, two, there was a tie) topped the scales at 2.82lbs each! With 34 limits posted, the competition was very close, but the team that stood out among the rest of the field was Westfield & Lape (New NBAA/OCDC Members by the way!) who presented 5 fish that weighed 9.15 lbs! CONGRATS GUYS & WELCOME!

Almost everyone attending took home some really GREAT PRIZES from our AWESOME SPONSORS.  Most hung around after the drawing to congratulate the directors on a great event and asked questions about the next NBAA/OCDC tournament.
