Great Year for OCDC!

The Ohio Central Division Challenge “OCDC” recently wrapped up their 2011 season. Their last event took place on Delaware with 40 boats competing for cash and prizes. The day started out cool and cloudy with everyone enjoying donuts from Yum-ee Donuts of Columbus and Sunbury. As the day progressed the weather cleared and rumors were floating around of a tough bite on Delaware.

At 3:00 pm the anglers of the OCDC returned to the weigh in location and were treated to grilled hot dogs and cold drinks. Special thanks to Steve Holsinger and Aaron Maddux for helping with the hot dogs and drinks. During weigh in many nice fish came to the scales but all were topped by a 6.14 monster. This giant largemouth is the largest bass ever weighed in by the OCDC. The lucky team that caught this giant was the team of Dirk Davenport & Ron Nutter. Dirk and Ron’s total weight was 11.34 lbs. This great bag of fish was enough to top the field and second place by over a pound. For their efforts the team of Dirk and Ron took home over $1500.00!

Many other items and awards were giving out at this yearend event. The first annual KVD Award went to Mike Groves for special support throughout the season. For his special efforts Mike won a Strike King hat signed by Kevin VanDam, 2 Strike King lures, A kevin VanDam book, a bass DVD and more. Another special award went to Jim Smurr and Aaron Maddux. Jim and Aaron helped out tremendously throughout the season and won a cool gift pack from the US Army. The lucky winner of the $100 Fin, Feather and Fur gift card was Terry Williams, congratulations to Terry. For all of the members, you can still receive a 15% discount at Fin, Feather and Fur by telling them you are a NBAA member.

Other winners included:

Craig Conrad and Mike Wilson – This team won a 3 bank Minn Kota Charger and two Lucky Lacy’s custom rods.
Boyd Yates and Mike Watson – This team won a Minn Kota Edge trolling motor valued at over $500.00.

Other sponsors that helped make the OCDC season the biggest and best ever included Paul’s Marine, Knox Marine, Dennis Cruse. Directors of the OCDC Ky Reed, Don Rinehart, Don Harter, Travis Whaley and Jim Smurr would like to thank everyone for making this season the biggest and best ever. This was a record setting year for this great division and they’re already looking forward to setting new records in 2012.
