Buckeye Lake OpenFull Field at the Ohio Open!

There was a full field for the 2011 Buckeye Lake Open. 75 boats took to the waters off Buckeye Lake in search of big largemouth bass. Even though the weather was tough and the fishing tougher the anglers came through. Several limits and great catches came to the scales. The one that topped them all was lone angler – Jeff Kauth. Jeff brought in a limit of Buckeye Lake largemouth’s that topped the scales at over 12 lbs to take top honors. This first place finish was worth $2500.00. The second place team of Jim Hite and Brian Caudill brought in 10.71 pounds for 2nd place and following in third with 10.33 lbs was Frank Sylvester and Bill Henry. Big bass honors went to the team of Bob McCafferty and Eric Elkins with a giant largemouth going 5.55 lbs.

Besides having a great payback that topped way over 100% with cash and prizes. Anglers had a chance at great prizes in a free raffle provided by Ohio Central Division Challenge and NBAA. Sponsors that helped support the event included Snapper, WaveSpin, Lazer Sharp, Star Tron, Star brite, Tro-Kar, Lucky Craft, Auto Value, Garneau Baits, Buckeye Outdoors, Venom Lures, National Angler Rods, Leverage Landing Nets, Gamma Line, Fish On Insurance, and more. Special guests on hand included the Annehurst swim team. They made some awesome hot dogs and severed them with chips and pops. Also on hand were guys and gals from the Ohio State Buckeyes Bass fishing team. As you can tell there was plenty going on besides catching some great bass out of Buckeye Lake.

Last but certainly not least we’d like to give special thanks to Ky Reed and his staff. Once again, they pulled off one of the largest events in Ohio and did it flawlessly. We’d also like to give special thanks to Larry Uhl from Buckeye Outdoors for hosting this event and helping with so many details. Talks are already in progress for next year’s event. Be sure to keep your eyes on the web for more details. Many anglers were left sitting on the bank wishing they would have signed up sooner.
