Super Big Bass and AOY Winners!

This past weekend at the Auburn Hills Bass Pro Shops NBAA held its annual Super Big Bass and Angler of the Year drawings. These contests are for NBAA anglers that either catch a big bass in a tournament or have finished in the top 15 in one of the Angler of the Year contests. Anglers from all over NBAA were on hand for these special drawings and to see if they would be a big winner.

This year’s grand prize for the Super Big Bass drawing is new quad from Arctic Cat. Along with the Super Big Bass drawings, Angler of the Year drawings were also completed and dozens of NBAA members walked away winners.

The special drawings started at 3:00 pm at the aquarium inside of Bass Pro Shops. The Angler of the Year drawings were completed first and the big winners for the 2009 Angler of the Year contests were as follows:

• Auto Value – Jeff Bowne – Special Prize package from Auto Value, including MIS Race Tickets
• Combat Fishing - Frank Schattler – Special prize package from Combat Fishing
• Lazer Sharp – Homer Mayberry – Special Lazer Sharp hooks, t-shirt, hats and NEW hooks from Tro-kar.
• Gamma Line – Don Watts – A huge assortment of line and hats
• Humminbird – Robert Miller – Humminbird graph

• National Angler Rods – John Gore & Matt Gorham – 5 National Angler rods to each winner

The Scott Dye overall Angler of the Year for NBAA was also announced. For the third year in a row, Mark Semple walked away the winner. Mark fished an astounding 92 tournaments and accumulated over 2000 points throughout 2009 season to claim this honor. For Marks efforts throughout 2009 he was awarded a beautiful plaque and a new trolling motor from Minn Kota.

After the Angler of the Year drawings were completed it was time to move on to the Super Big Bass drawings. This is a special drawing for anglers who caught a big bass in a NBAA event in 2009. In short, if you were fishing in a NBAA event and happen to catch the big bass of that tournament your name went in to this drawing. The weight of the bass does not matter, all that matters is that it was the big bass of the event that day. So if you were lucky enough to have captured the big bass in 5 NBAA events in 2009 that means your name went into this special drawing 5 times.

The grand prize for this year’s drawing was a NEW Arctic Cat quad. And the lucky winners are Bill Kelly and Jeff Vandergraff out of Monticello, Indiana. Bill and Jeff caught a 2.81 largemouth to capture big bass honors at an event in Indiana in the spring of 2009. Congratulations to Bill and Jeff on winning their new Arctic Cat quad.
